After 2 hours, a solution of 8.61 g N,N’-dimethyl hexamethylenediamine in 25 ml of methylene chloride is added at 0 C. and the reaction mixture is stirred at room temperature for 12 hours. The insoluble salt residue is removed by filtration and methylene chloride is removed under reduced pressure. Purification by liquid chromatography affords the title compound as a thick oil.
